Term 2 - Week 8

BBC micro:bits - Fortune Teller

It was really great to see everyone getting their micro:bit doing lots of cool stuff!

This week, we're going to carry on with what we've learnt, and start using variables. The project is called 'Fortune Teller', and we're going to code so that when we ask our micro:bit a question, it will give us a 'yes', 'no', or 'maybe' answer!

Skills:

  • Selection - using 'if' blocks to make a choice;
  • Random - can we get our micro:bit to pick for us?
  • Variables - storing the things we care about!

Challenges:

  • "Multiple answers" - can we use 'nested' if-blocks? Maybe 'ask again'?;
  • "Shake your micro:bit" - instead of pressing a button, can we shake it?
