Code Club is an international endeavour, with clubs up and down the UK. In fact, there are over 1000 registered Code Clubs in over 100 countries! It was founded in 2012, and in 2015 teamed up with the Raspberry Pi Foundation in order to extend its reach.
The main aim of Code Club is to inspire the next generation to get excited about technology, computing, coding and digital making. Regardless of where a child is, or where they come from, the philosophy is that every child should have the opportunity to learn to code.
Code Club runs on the help and support of a nationwide network of volunteers and educators who run free coding clubs in schools, libraries, etc, where young people are encouraged to build and share their ideas, and learn along the way.
Code Club provides a number of interesting and engaging projects for young people to get started with, ranging from Scratch, HTML and CSS, and Python, as well as lots of other resources.
Code Club is just one way of engaging with young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) skills, and aims to promote an aspiration to progress in to STEM careers and bridge the huge STEM skills gap that the UK currently faces.
