About our Code Club

The 'what'

Code Club is now in its third year at Ethelbert Road, after a successful two years so far.

We meet to code every Thursday afternoon during term-time, for an hour or so, and work on a number of projects across a number of platforms. These include Scratch, HTML/CSS, Python and the BBC micro:bit. We might also take a look at programming on the occassional Raspberry Pi.

Most of our projects we take from the official Code Club project repository, but we encourage our coders to extend them and come up with their own new ideas. It's always great fun to see how our coders have customised their projects!

There are many aims of Code Club at ERPS, including:

  • Encouraging problem solving and critical thinking;
  • Exposing our coders to new and different technologies;
  • Introducing our coders to new ideas and concepts related to the world of programming and technology in general;
  • Stimulating creativity and design skills;
  • Promote the ideas of ethics around software development;
  • Building confidence.
